The views from the top deck are phenomenal, so keep those cameras ready. You'll receive a map with all the stops and what you'll find at each, along with a headset that allows you to hear (in English) a narration about the sights you are seeing. There are 2 different routes that will take you in and around Melbourne - the City Route and the St. Kilda Route. Melbourne is a fascinating city that was founded in 1835, 47 years after the European settlement of Australia. It is also the capital and the most populous city in the state of Victoria with so many wonderful sights to see that it's hard to choose. You'll discover there are stops at such great locations as China Town at stop 12 on the City Route where you can take in the colors, atmosphere, and aromas. At stop 13 on the City Route, is Cathedral Place. This large Catholic Church was built in the 19th century. Or if you want to hit the beaches, then take the St. Kilda Route and hop off at stop 8 to enjoy South Melbourne beach.
Be sure to visit the Eureka tower, which has the highest public vantage point. Or maybe try your luck in the Crown Casino at stop 9 on the St. Kilda Route. Note that entrance fees to the attractions are not included in the excursion price.
The City Route begins at 09:30 AM and the last bus is at 05:30 PM. If you want to just stay on the bus and see the sights, the loop will take approximately 2 hours. The buses run approximately every 40 minutes. The St. Kilda Route begins at 09:45 AM and the last bus is at 04:45 PM. The entire loop takes approximately 90 minutes. The buses run every 60 minutes in the summertime and every 2 hours in the winter.
